Yasuharu Ohyama (1923-1992)


 15th Shogi Master,Meijin.
 He was born in Okayama Pref. in 1923.
 In 1952, he became the 15th Shogi Meijin,
 and subsequently held the title for five consecutive terms,
 becoming a permanent Meijin.
 He holds five permanent titles: 15th Meijin, Eternal 10dan,
 Eternal Ohza, Eternal Kisei, and Eternal Osho.
 He served as president of the Japan Shogi Association from 1976 to 1989.
 He also worked hard to build the East and West Shogi Halls.
 In 1990, he was the first person in the shogi world to be awarded the Person of Cultural Merit.
 In his later years, he continued to play despite battling cancer,
 and passed away in 1992 at the age of 69 while still in A class.
 He has the most wins of all time, with 1,433 wins (781 losses).
 He also holds the record for the longest consecutive period of 44 terms as Meijin and A class.
