               Usen Ogawa (1868|1938)


                        Japanese artist.
                        He was born in 1868 in Tokyo and lived in Ibaragi Prefecture.
                        He graduated from Kawabata picture school.
                        He later formed the Sango-kai (Coral Society)
                        with Ryushi Kawabata and others.
                        He was recognized by Taikan Yokoyama
                        and became a member of the Japan Art Academy.
                        He also had a strong interest in aquatic creatures and demons,
                        and is known as "Kappa no Usen" (Kappa's Potato Money)
                        because he left behind many paintings of kappa.
                        He was also well versed in haiku poetry.
                        He died in 1938 at the age of 70.
