Enshu Kobori                          Sold


                               Enshu Kobori (1579-1647)


               A feudal lord, tea master, architect and landscape architect in the early Edo period.
                              He is the founder of the Enshu style of tea ceremony and flower arrangement.
                              His name is Seiichi. His Pen name was Soho ・Kohoan.
                              He is Totomi no kami. A person from Omi (Shiga Prefecture).
                              He studied tea ceremony with Furuta Oribe and poetry with Reizei Tamemitsu.
                              He served Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu as Sakuji Bugyo and Fushimi Magistrate,
                              and taught tea ceremony to Tokugawa Iemitsu.
                              His representative works of teahouses include Daitokuji Kohoan and Nanzenji Konchiin.
                              He also opened the Enshu Seven Kilns and selected Chuko's famous tea utensils.
                              He also showed great talent in calligraphy, painting, Japanese poetry, and flower arrangemen.
